INSTAGRAM WEEKDAY WRAP-UP

1 :  Joey and I had the best time in Dallas last weekend.  Record Store Day was tons-o-fun.
2 :  I hard boiled some yummy eggs.  Which in return gave me food poisoning.  Jerks.
3 :  We stayed at a fancy-pants hotel.  Shoe mittens included!
4 :  I got a little too excited about the shoe mittens and ended up with an adult headache (hangover).  BC Powder is disgusting, but the fastest headache cure ever.
5 :  Just a reminder - Gonzo is a pretty baby.
6 :  Bun-bun is currently nesting under our house.  She usually hangs out in the front yard in the mornings.  I can't wait for the baby buns to arrive!
7 :  Damien Jurado makes me happy.  I suggest you grab yourself some of his tunes if you don't already have some.
8 :  The weather is so nice right now.  Gonzo like to camp out in front of the door until playtime.

Did you have a good week?  Circle yes or no.

OH, HAI!

I see you there, little squash!  These are our first little veggie sprouts.  They're about the size of my pointer finger, but I love them nonetheless.  As I'm sure you have noticed, I'm simi-obsessed with our garden.  I check on it about 10 times a day to see if anything new is growing and to make sure the critters and bugs are staying out.  Joey thinks I'm a crazy person.

Also, I randomly found a blackberry tree the other day.  Minding it's business, growing blackberries.  Nature is pretty sweet.

AND...a group of deer surprised me at work the other day!  There were three of them roaming around looking for snacks.  I could only get a few sniper-style shots from my desk because I didn't want to scare them.

I want to name them, knit them little sweaters, and give them lots of treats.  P.S. I am also running a mild fever, which might explain my delusions...

CRITTER SIGHTINGS

This is not the first time my screen printing supplies have attracted critters, but I am 100% OK with it.  Come at me bros!

This little lizard let me take his photo for so long.  What a nice guy, right?

Chubby squirrels are not nearly as accommodating to humans so I had to go sniper-style with this guy from inside the house.  Just hanging out..scoping out a spice garden...munching on some snack...omnomnom.

KITTEN CATTENS

I had a fantastic weekend hanging out with my sis.  We didn't really do anything at all, which was surprisingly wonderful.

I got to see my bebe kitty, Miles.  He's such a little gentleman.  He is still at my sisters due to the wild animal danger zone out here (they love picking on the little guys).

Neely was chipper, as always.  Love the grey whisker (and tongue, obviously).

I attempted to woo them with their new toy.  As you can see, they loved it!

I hope your weekend was animal filled and that your Monday was stress free!

I HEART ANIMALS

I realize that 90% of my posts are about animals and/or critters.  I can't help it.  I live in the woods and rarely see people (I swear I'm not going crazy though...).

Can you blame me?  Look at how he's sitting.  Cuteness overload times one thousand.

GET A ROOM!

It's only March and the Mayflies have already invaded.  I'm fairly certain that's not what they are actually called, but that's what we always called them.

They look like giant mosquitoes, they're 100% harmless, and they offer hours of enjoyment for kitties.  They also procreate like crazy.  Even when they are flying!  Dirty little bugs.

P.S. We saw a big turtle next to the house.  I think he was lost whilst looking for the creek.  We gave him a lettuce snack.  He was not amused.

TOUCH WITH YOUR EYES

We stopped by the Brookshire's Wildlife Museum & Country Store this weekend.  The museum is essentially a super creepy (and amazing) taxidermy museum with an old-timey country store at the end.  Random?  Yes.  But most of the animals were donated by Mr. & Mrs. Brookshire, who were the founders of Brookshire's Food & Pharmacy (a big ol' grocery store chain).  They were definitely meat lovers!

I don't think I will ever understand the sport of killing animals for leisure, but at least they were world travelers?

All of the animals were placed in diorama-esque habitats...with the exception of the monkeys.  They were playing Monopoly.  And wearing island attire.

The museum is tiny and a little old lady kept announcing over the loudspeaker, "Attention wildlife guests, please remember to only touch with your eyes and not your hands."  Crazy ol' lady!

My fav part was definitely the country store.  I wish this is what grocery stores still looked like.

You should definitely stop by the museum if you ever find yourself in Tyler, TX.  It's free!

CRITTER SIGHTINGS

I found this little guy hanging out on some of my old screen-printing screens.  Straight chillin'.

I have a slightly irrational fear of spiders, roaches, etc., but caterpillars are welcome 'round our porch anytime.

CRITTER SIGHTINGS : SKULL EDITION

We found a skull in the woods on Saturday.  So we brought it home (naturally).  It's currently sitting on the deck.  Should scare away any potential creepers, right?

I'm thinking it a deer.  Correct me if I'm wrong though.

GONZO GOES TO THE FARM

This is Gonzo.  Joey and I get to be doggie-sitters for a bit while his mom has repairs done to her fence.  Gonzo likes to dig giant holes under her fence.  Everyday.  Said hole digging usually ends with Gonzo roaming the neighborhood and jumping in the lake.  He always returns home though.  Like a good boy.

Aside from that little quirk, he is the most loving, obedient, happy puppers I have ever met.

He seems to only hate two things.  Getting his picture taken (I don't even use the flash, jeez), and taking a bath.

Today he got both.  Mr. Pouty McPouterson.

The "bath" consisted of me in a swimsuit, with Gonzo, in a standing-room-only shower.  There was a lot of awkward crouching involved, but we made it work.

Gonzo also has a very famous relative.  Can you see the family resemblance?

MILO LOVE

This is my baby kitten, Miles (aka Milo).  And by "baby kitten" I mean "9 year old cat that will forever be a baby kitten to me".  The twin sister has been his foster mama since we moved to the farm.

You see, Milo loves to play outside.  He literally meows nonstop for hours until we let him outside to play.  The problem?  The wild animals around the farm like to eat cats (truth).  On a daily basis we see packs of wild dogs, gigantic hawks and vultures, and various other creatures that like to pick on little guys.

My sister brought him out for a visit this weekend and I snuggled him for every minute he was here (sometimes against his will).  I miss my little kitters, but can't bear the thought of loosing him out here.  So visits will have to do for now.

True story - when I was little I thought all cats were girls and all dogs were boys.  The end.

ZDAY23

I've known Zicole since she was the wee age of 19.  Over the last 4 years we have been bandmates, roommates, travelmates and best friends.  She is the truest of blue and just turned twenty-three years old.

Z, her boyfriend Judd, and their two felines (Kitty and Tino) had a little shindig to celebrate her birthday.  They just bought a house in Dallas and it is killer, to say the least.

Happiest of birthdays, little Z.  I don't know where I'd be without you.
