THE ART OF NON-CONFORMITY

I have been following Chris Guillebeau's blog for some time now and it never fails to put me in the right mind-frame.  Today's post says, "This is a friendly reminder to stop living mindlessly.  Spend your days in pursuit of joy and adventure. Help someone and create something that will endure.  The end is (always) near."  Cue chills down spine.

He wrote a pretty interesting book called The Art of Non-Conformity.

You can buy it here or at most major book stores.   The basic idea is that you can change the world through non-conformist and/or unconventional means.  The catch?  You need to be helping others along the way.  Sure - you might make a decent living Photoshopping photos of young pageant girls so they look like really creepy 13-year-old porn stars (seriously...Google "pageant retouching") but are you really doing anything to help your fellow man?  In my ongoing quest to figure out what in the hell I'm supposed to dedicate my life to, I try to make this way of thinking a priority.

Plus, Chris's current goal is to visit every country in the world by April 2013.  Country count as of today?  159 out of 193.  He's only 33 years old.

On a totally unrelated note...how sweet is this song?
